The Public Works Department operates within a well-defined organisational structure comprising two main divisions — Community Projects and Works — each supported by specialised directorates and units to ensure effective delivery of public infrastructure and services.

The Community Projects Division leads the planning and design of public infrastructure, coordinating with stakeholders to enhance community environments. Through its Directorates, it undertakes a diverse range of projects, including the embellishment of public spaces, the construction and renovation of open spaces, and the undertaking of initiatives and projects for the benefit of the local community and the public in general.

Through its Directorates, the Works Division focuses on managing projects executed by direct labour, supports the local community in their initiatives, designs and undertakes works for public use, provides technical expertise to the Government in project design, implementation, and manufacturing services, maintains the National Flood Relief Project, implements preventive and emergency measures in coastal areas, and designs urban runoff and flood relief systems, including water recovery projects.

Supporting units to both Divisions include Quantity Surveying, Health and Safety, Landscaping, Precincts and Procurement to ensure all public works meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.
