The workers of the Department of Public Works will start using new equipment, rendering the work of the department more sustainable, safe and efficient.
In a statement the Government explained that with an investment exceeding half a million euros, the new vehicles will replace the older ones that were giving rise to difficulties during works.
Among others the department has invested in five new trucks of 16 tonnes each, which will be used for the transport of construction material and other goods, four trailers of three and a half tonnes, to be used for transport of small vehicles, and two rollers of 2 tonnes that will be used for road maintenance work.
In a visit to the Government’s garage in Corradino, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Omar Farrugia, stated that this investment was very necessary and will ensure more efficiency in the completion of the projects.
Meanwhile, it was explained that an investment was also made in two mini-excavators of 4 tonnes that will be used for excavation works. These are expected to arrive in Malta next May.
